Welcome to Paul Jermyn Online

Paul Jermyn, from Cavan Town, Ireland, started his musical career playing the pub circuit around Cavan and the Midlands.

Although considered to be a mainly Rock/Pop guitarist, Paul feels quite comfortable playing Country and Jazz and loves to play at traditional / folk sessions.

He has toured extensively in the U.S. & Europe, playing support to such high profile acts as Don McLean and Dave Stewart.

Whilst sitting in at many Traditional Sessions around Ireland, Paul developed a talent for accompanying traditional Irish musicians drawing on the influences of the likes of Martin Donohoe, Christy Moore, Arty McGlynn and Paul Brady to mention just a few.

As a full-time musician, Paul covers a wide variety of music styles..from screaming lead solos to subtle acoustic playing.

"Musically I'm a bit of a Jeckyll & Hyde..there is so much good music out there across all genres that it's impossible for me not to try to be able to play a little bit of everything...but it must be melody driven."

His solo show covers everthing from Dire Straits, Thin Lizzy & Queen to James Taylor, Paul Brady & Christy Moore as well as throwing in some modern country stuff like Albert Lee's "Country Boy".

"Doing the pub scene is not ideal for your musical snobbery..but it does put bread & butter on the table, so I'd never knock it, or anyone who does it to earn a living. It can be great fun and you do get some genuine compliments from most of the punters"

There is yet another facet to Paul's music career..He is a talented songwriter/composer and has collaborated & played on numerous Rock, Folk & Traditional recordings including the critically acclaimed "This Town" which helped to co-write with Gerry Henderson.

He is a widely respected and experienced studio musician and continues work with producer Peter Keenan of Stockton’s Wing Fame. This has earned him many admirers in the Contemporary Irish song-writing & music scene.

Paul is a member of The Registry of Guitar Tutors and lives in Haworth, West Yorkshire with his wife Alison & Baby Daughter, Niamh. He teaches Guitar in Keighley Musicians Centre, West Yorkshire.
